Topshop Ordered To Pay Rihanna £1 Million After Losing A Law Suit

In a suit which involves Topshop’s sales of a T-shirt which carries Rihanna’s image without her permission. Topshop has now been banned from further sales of any other shirt which has the image and are to pay Riri a damage sum of £1 million after they lost the battle in court.
Owners of the clothing line, the Arcadia group were also ordered by the jude to make an upfront payment of £200,000 from the total sum within the next 24 hours of the verdict.
The Chancery division Judge said sales of the shirt by Topshop without Riri’s permission was “passing off” and this might have led to misleading most of her fans who will think Rihanna endorsed the act.
Riri’s lawyers lodged an estimated £919,000 as legal damage while the judge humbly rounded the figure up to the nearest million.
Topshop’s sale of the shirts might have damaged the star icon’s goodwill and be a loss to her merchandising business as explained by the judge.
