First Solar Plane Ever Takes Off In The United States.

Solar Impulse, the first ever solar-powered aircraft, took off yesterday 3rd of May at Moffett Field in Mountain View, California. The plane took off at 6am in the morning and is set to be on a tour across the U. S. till it gets to the New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport – its final destination – in July. Some of the airports it is expected to visit include Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, Lambert St. Louis International Airport, and Washington Dulles International Airport. The slim plane is particularly sensitive to turbulence and has no room for passengers, but Piccard has insisted that those issues are challenges to be met in the future, rather than setback. Each flight leg is expected to take about 19 to 25 hours, with 10-days stop in each city in its first flight is to Phoenix, Arizona where it is scheduled to land at around 1am today, May 4. “In terms of today’s flight, it’s a very big contrast,” pilot of the Solar Impulse, Bertrand Piccard, told reporters an hour before takeoff.“On one side, we have to be very precise, it’s an aeronautical first. We have to coordinate with the FAA, with air-traffic control, so there is a hard workload for the pilot. On the other side, it’s complete freedom because we have no fuel on board. It’s completely solar powered so theoretically the plane can fly forever. We don’t need to refuel.”
“We’re the first airplane to be able to fly day and night on solar power, so it’s a fabulous way to promote clean technology, to show what our world could do if we were really applying these technologies everywhere,” he continued.“We have to understand, the technologies we have on board, if they were used everywhere including on the ground, they could help our world divide by two energy consumption.”Piccard has previously completed an around-the –world flight in a hot air balloon. Another model of the solar airplane is being made and is expected to make a flight across the world. This is expected to occur in the year 2015. His co-pilot is Andre Borschberg , a former Swiss Air Force pilot and graduate of MIT. The Solar Impulse is a very light air plane. Despite its 63 metres wingspan, 22 metres length, and 6 metres height, it weighs just 1,600 kilograms (1.6 tons). That is approximately the weight of a small car. This is due to a fuselage made from carbon fibre sheets three times lighter than paper. Its four engines are powered by batteries that are charged by 11,628 solar cells. Losses in the plane’s motors is roughly 6% while losses in conventional motors is about 70%. Its takeoff speed is 44km/hr and its cruising altitude is 8,500 metres. The top speed of the Solar Impulse is about 70km/hr and I think that is where its biggest challenge lies. Solar Impulse already has the aviation record of the longest duration of flight at 26 hours, 10 minutes and 19 seconds. Project Solar Impulse started in 2003 at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland, and had its first flight in 2009. "Instead of speaking of the problems, we want to demonstrate solutions," Piccard said as he flew toward Phoenix, stressing that renewable technologies already exist and are well known to science. "Now we need to put them on a big scale everywhere in our daily life.

Chris Brown Confirms Breakup With Rihanna "I Can't Be Focused On Rihanna"

In a new interview with the Australian radio station 2DayFM, Chris admitted that he was split from Riri and flying solo.“I’mma do it solo,” Chris told the Aussie DJ. The R&B singer seems to intimate that his and Rihanna’s schedules unfortunately got in the way of their relationship, and that her inability to make it to his birthday celebrations may have been a factor too: “I mean, at the end of the day, shawty doing her own thing, she on the road. It’s always gonna be love. I’m a grown man, just gotta move forward.” He talked about how he’s more focused on himself right now. “People have differences and people have different wants and needs,” he says. “At the end of the day she’s a young girl. Chris Brown was spotted out partying in LA last night to celebrate his birthday with his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran. Rihanna is currently on her tour which explains why. She couldn't go for the. Party.
Chris and his Ex followed by entourage, turned up at the Emerson Club in LA in the early hours of morning and were reportedly really going for it and letting their hair down, with some insiders claiming that the couple were getting close. Karrueche left for another club a couple of hours later and left Chris and his pals partying. With Karrueche back on the scene, we’re not sure if Chris and Riri would stay happy for two long. However, the exes have made no secret of the fact that they are still in touch and will always be friends, with Chris once claiming she was his "homie".
"She was my friend through it all. It was a friendship more than a relationship. I still love her, but at the end of the day, it's like I got love for her. She gone always be my homie!"
Speaking to Vibe magazine recently, Karrueche echoed Chris’ sentiments, explaining that she will always care for her former beau.
"At the end of the day, he will always be a friend. We'll always care about each other.
"I try my best to just ignore the negativity, which is hard for me because it's a lot to deal with. But I try to keep a positive mind and stay strong and not put energy into it."

James Ibori Loses Appeal In Britain Over 13 Year Jail Term.

The jailed former Delta State governor, James Ibori, lost a legal appeal on Thursday against a 13-year prison sentence for embezzling more than $250 million. He was trying to reduce his jail term. Ibori’s legal team had based its argument for a reduction in his jail term sentence on some a promise by Justice Pitts that he could sentence Ibori to a jail term of not more than 10 years if he pleaded guilty to the charges filed against him. However, the Court of Appeal dismissed the argument, saying the promise was not emphatic enough to support the plea.Judge Antony Edwards-Stuart rejected saying Money Laundering should attract a maximum of 14 years in jail. Mr Ibori pleaded guilty to 10 charges of fraud and money-laundering in February 2012 while  most of the fraud were in Nigeria, some money passed through Britain and British banks.
