The police have confirmed that one person, Oladele Pius, was this morning killed after an explosion occurred under the bridge, linking Festac Town to Amuwo Odofin Housing Estate.
The Area Commander of Area E Festac Command of the Lagos State Police Command, Dan Okoro, who confirmed the incident, said the dead was a leader of the sand dredgers under the bridge.
Okoro added that one person was injured in the blast.
Pius was survived by his two wives and five children. Sources say that the legs of a policeman who visited the deceased were shattered as a result of the impact of the explosion.
t was gathered that he was handed a letter by an unknown persons at about 11am, shortly after he resumed for work.. As the unknown visitor left, Chief Oladele attempted to open the letter, only for an explosion which rocked the entire area killing him on the spot.
