What Really happened between Saeon and Wizkid by – Alex Adegbenro

Some weeks back, Saeon lashed out at Wizkid for being arrogant to help promote the song, ‘Boogie down’ across his social media accounts.

Wizkid responded by saying Saeon is not his friend and he even gave her a fair deal by featuring on her song while threatening to beat her up.

Alex Adegbenro, Saeon’s former manger who now resides in the UK has said wizkid’s statement about beating up his former artiste shouldn't be left alone. According to him, Saeon never met Wizkid until the exact day they recorded the song and he was the one getting in contact with Wizkid’s manager, Godwin Tom, and not Saeon. Alex didn’t defend Saeon per say, but narrated what he calls the truth of it all in a radio interview with Chi Chi. His words;

‘I can’t really say much as well, I recently STARTED getting calls from people too asking me what’s going on between Saeon and Wizkid, so I decided to go online to get myself informed as well, and lo and behold I found a video of Wizkid talking about Samklef and Saeon.
Contrary to Wizkid’s claims, Saeon at no point made any contact with the kid, until I set up a first meet up.

‘It’s funny when he said she slept in front of his house to beg him, I feel that’s a figure of speech and I feel it’s still wrong for him to say that. She never had his contact, he also forgot that he STARTED the same way, sleeping at OJB’s studio crying after M.I and so on. As a matter of fact, myself and his manger were the ones discussing, his manger, Godwin Tom gave us a fee, we disagreed with the fee and told him what we could afford was N1.5 million and then he came back to us and said they’ll take it.

‘Here’s what I think, Wizkid has contradicted himself already, he’s either not a thinker, or he has consumed himself with so much pride. Why would she pay you and then beg you. The irony of it all was that Saeon didn’t actually want to record with Wizkid, after paying; it took about a month to record the song because he was travelling a lot for shows.

‘She wanted to use the money in putting out an EP, but when Wizkid got back, we pressed on getting the job done because he had been paid, now I’m not saying he was obligated to tweet about the song because I think that’s what started the whole thing, but coming from someone who was adamant about us shooting a music video so he could benefit from it.

‘And the one that got me was when he said he was going to beat her up. Saeon didn’t even get to meet him or talk to him until the day they recorded together in the studio. And I remember he gave us a list of producers he could work with, he said it was either, Samklef, Sarz or Maleek Berry and we picked Sarz and then when he heard the beat  Sarz made, he didn’t like it, so he called Sarz and was like ‘dude, you know my new sound, why do you keep MAKING BEATShttp://cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png like this.’ So we went back the second time and Maleek Berry just laced a beat and the song happened like a freestyle. I’m just a bit disappointed in him, I personally think the part of his statement where he said he would beat up Saeon shouldn’t be left alone.

Wizkid and Waje part ways with manager, Godwin Tom.

Waje’s PR firm confirmed the separation.
Nigeria’s music industry has witnessed another fall-out between an artiste and a manager as pop sensation, Ayo ‘Wizkid’ Balogun, and Waje have parted ways with their manager, Godwin Tom.
Although Wizkid is yet to make an official confirmation, he removed Godwin Tom’s name from his twitter page as manager and replaced it with Seun Johnson.

Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES on phone, Godwin Tom, who once managed rapper, M.I., said he would speak at the right time. “I can’t comment on that sir, not now” he told PREMIUM TIMES while asking for time to release an official statement. Waje’s PR rep, Wild Flower PR, however, confirmed that Waje and Godwin Tom no longer work together.
“Godwin Tom is no longer managing Waje,” Waje’s media rep told NET newspaper.
Waje has also removed Tom’s name and contact from her social media accounts as Tom also removed both Waje and Wizkid’s name from his Twitter page.
Wizkid earlier parted ways with former EME artiste manager, Osagie Osarenkhoe, who is now with Darey’s Soul Musik.

"I Don't Think I Have The Qualities For Marriage Yet" - Iceprince

Panshak Zamani, popularly known as Ice Prince who has a baby mama revealed in an interview with Vanguard Newspaper gave the reasons why he is not ready for marriage.
“I don’t think I am planning to get married now because, I am still young, I am in my youth, and moreover I am just 27years old, maybe later in my late thirties, I can start planning to get married or not”. “it is because I still have a long way to go before thinking of settling down, I can’t say because of what I have, that I am okay to get married, No!, I don’t think I am mentally ready for marriage. I think before one could get married, one needs to attain certain level of understanding and awareness. I don’t think I have those qualities just yet”

The singer, who claims his baby mama is cool with his decisions, is said to be in London filming the video for his song titled “Mercy”.
Expected to make camera  appearances in the “Mercy” video are star artistes Wizkid and Chip.

Open Letter to Wizkid, Olamide, Iyanya, et’all Nigerian Artistes this Festive Period [READ] -

Dear Nigerian Artiste,
It is Christmas season again, that blessed season of giving, getting…and attending shows and concerts. I don’t need to wish you a merry one because I know that by now the state of your bank accounts has told you all you need to know about how merry or not it will be.
This seems to be a season of letters, yes I know, and even more intriguing of leaked ones. I assure you, this letter is different. If it ever gets leaked, know I had no hand in it. It could just be the handiwork of my detractors and political foes.
You are probably wondering who I am and the reason I have chosen to write you a letter rather than tweet at you or send you an email or a text. Wonder no further, you and I know you will never reply me. I am not a celeb. I digress.
So, how many concerts have you signed up for this period? Your account manager at the bank should by now be delirious and you already checking out rides at Coscharis. Bulletproof BMW 7 series maybe? That shouldn’t be an issue now, aren’t you all Princesses and Princes? No pun intended here.
I have a question by the way. How do you plan to make these concerts rock? Like make them totally unforgettable, make them headline grabbing and stuff? Have you been rehearsing with your band?
Say what? You don’t know what a band is?
So how do you plan to make it worth the while of fans who pay huge amounts for tickets and who take the risk of coming to crowded venues and willingly inhale a toxic mixture of second hand smoke, mouth and body odour? And probably get fondled by jagudas all in the name of jumping up and down to the sound coming from the loudspeakers?
Oh? You plan to get a DJ to play your CDs while you lip synch along? Come on! You have to agree that is unfair, unethical, unprofessional, mediocre, untenable, une….. ok let me stop.
It will do you a world of good if you read this letter carefully and take some of the advice and criticisms that will flow from it under advisement.
Your fans are getting smarter and more demanding by the day. A day will come when they will rather listen to the radio or sit in their cars or homes and just flip through CDs, than come to your concert. At least it is you performing (we hope), and of course cheaper, more convenient and less stressful, than struggling to get into VIP at Eko Hotel.
Laziness is the only reason I can think of that will make you, a professional artiste (I definitely can’t refer to you with the more particular title of Musician, you cannot convince me you are one yet) perform from CDs at a show. Your counterparts abroad take time out to have sessions with bands (whether theirs or rented) in preparation for concerts and tours. They don’t rely on DJs. At worst, DJs are a backup. This actually applies to Hip-Hop artistes too.
Instead of giving a show that will make you go down in history and be hailed a legend like TuBaba or be referred to as good concert material like Asha, Omawunmi, and Waje, you will rather stand inebriated in front of hundreds (maybe thousands) of fans and have the gumption to turn back at a likely equally stoned DJ, screaming at him or her “DJ track 7…no! no! that is track 6, I want track 7”. Not good at all. You should aim for better quality.
Imagine if in the middle of you rambling through a track we all have concluded you performed in the studio while recording, the DJ mistakenly pulls a cable and the only gadgets left working are the microphones and we (including your dazed self) find out that you weren’t uttering anything all evening? That you have instead been busy just throwing in the occasional “yaw! yaw! Put ye hends up!! Lagos are you happy??!!!!” Dude come on! How can Lagos be happy after you have been found out to be scamming them? Lesser things have led to concert riots in other places. This picture I painted recently happened to one of Nigeria’s top gospel artistes after collecting 500,000 naira as performance fees from an hapless church. Is what you collect really a performance fee or merely an appearance fee. We need to be clear on this point.
Let me park this letter here. I have had the chance of seeing quite a number of Nigerian concerts; either physically or on TV and I can safely say one more time that artistes of now are largely a lazy bunch. Your concerts merely feed on adrenalin that makes it look like the fans are getting value, not the quality and sheer artistry of your live performances. You all need to fix up.
I can count on my fingers the number of artistes who can actually pull off a concert with a live band. Many of you very likely don’t know the lyrics of your own hits and you many times in those concerts default to pointing the mic at us poor fans so that we can help you insert the forgotten words. Too poor! Fix up else you will have to rely solely on the number of CDs that Obaino and the rest of the Alaba gang can make us buy to make ends meet.
While I believe you will, after reading this missive, make changes and ultimately get more professional; accept the assurance of my highest regards.
Yours respectfully,
Henry Okelue
Member, Concerned CD Buyer of Nigeria

Davido Speaks On How He Plans To Quit Music At 30 And How His Billionaire Dad Still Scolds Him

Guessing Davido is still hurt by what people think as regards his father being his reason for blowing. He granted an interview with punch where he said how Wizkid is not a threat to him, Skelewu is already big and some people are just starting out at 30 but he is already a success and threat at 20.

“Wizkid is not a rival. I see nobody as competition or threat. God is behind me, so I just go into the studio, do my music and everything is fine. I develop and write most of my songs in the studio. I’m not afraid of competition or the fact that some person will just appear on the scene and take the shine. After all, I did it to some people, so I expect that it is something that must happen to everyone because you can’t be shining forever. But once you are good to others, make good music, have loyal fans, that’s all that matters. I have plans to go into oil and gas business with my elder brother next year. I want to do music for 10 years. By that time, I will be 30, and free to rest. Some people are just starting out at 30 but I am already a success and threat at 20. Fame at a young age is a plus because I still have like 10 years to ball while some people are just starting at 27 and 30.”

On Skelewu

“The song is big already; so whatever we do people are still going to talk anyway. I shot the video like a movie and there are three videos, so people can watch whichever one they want.If you don’t like the instructional video, you can watch Sesan’s, if you don’t like that one; you can watch Moe Musa’s. If people want, I will shoot one more video, it’s not easy.”

On his dad

"Yes my father is rich, but the truth is some people only knew who he was after I released my song, ‘Omo Baba Olowo’. I want people to know that the song was not a hit because of my father but because it was dope. I didn’t sing ‘OBO’ because of my father’s wealth – contrary to what people think. My father and family always keep me grounded. They call me from time to time to ask about my welfare. My father actually visits all these blogs to read and see all my nonsense. Just like the typical Yoruba father, he scolds me and whenever he does that, I will say, ‘Daddy cool down, what’s going on, relax.’ Although he is also very proud of me, he is scared and happy for me at the same time.”

BankyW Tells His Grass To Grace Story: ‘I Begged To Sell CDs In US Salons To Survive’

In a chat with with Vanguard, BankyW shared his story of how he moved from being an undergraduate begging for audience at salons in the United States, to building a musical empire that has produced internationally acclaimed artistes like Skales and Wizkid. read and enjoy.

Excerpts:

“Everybody knows me to be the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of EME, but what people do not know is that EME started when I was in my third year in university in New York.
You see, we all dream dreams, but it is important to think very big and start where you are because God never gives you everything but gives you enough to start.
At that time, I knew I wanted to do music, but of course I understood nobody starts by selling a million CDs or the big screen!
I worked in fast foods outlets, clothing stores and as a knife salesman, selling knives from door to door. That way, I gathered money to pay for studio recording time. I was recording with a close friend at that time. After making that music, we printed a thousand CDs though we didn’t have any fan. I had one battered car that broke down virtually everywhere, so, we would print black and white posters, stick them on the sides of the car, sell from the car’s trunk and drive to salons to do marketing. We would walk to the owners of the salons, greet politely, and ask them to let us entertain their customers. Sometimes, some would kick us out and sometimes some would say yes. If told yes, after singing for a minute or two, we would sell our CDs to the customers! That was the beginning!
A lot of people see you on stage and see the success but do not know what you had to go through! I never had one really big break; it was always two steps forward and a couple backwards.
But I just decided that I was going to make music work for me. That was why I moved on to a new salon each time any salon rejected me!

I just kept going because I believe failure is when you give up. Albert Einstein said he tried a hundred times to make the light bulb. When he was asked what kept him going during the 99 times, he said: ‘I didn’t consider those 99 times as failure; rather, I considered them 99 ways that it didn’t work!’

We went about selling CDs and, on the days we couldn’t sell much, we would sit down and be broke together. I remember my friend was a member of a church that usually served food after service. So, on the days we didn’t sell CDs and were too broke to buy food, we would attend service in that church so we could pack rice and store in the fridge.
At a point, being a student of industrial engineering, I was working for an engineering company and was recording as well. I would go to work from 7am till about 2pm and then go to school till about 8pm, and then drive two and a half hours to New York City where the studio that would let us record for less was, and record until about 2am.
I would then drive two and a half hours back home to be back at work at 7am the following day.
One day, I was driving home from work and was so tired that I fell asleep while on a bridge. I would have driven off from the top of the bridge to God knows where, if not for an on-going construction work. God really saved me!”
After a while, Banky’s hard work began to pay off and, even while in school, he began winning awards, beginning with the ‘Albany Idol’ competition. Other international awards soon followed.
In 2008 when he decided to move to Nigeria after the completion of one of his albums, Mr Capable, Banky was consistently told his genre of music ‘would never appeal to Nigerians and therefore wouldn’t ‘sell’.
As he got turned down, pressure mounted on him and his manager to change their genre of music but Banky strongly held on to another long-standing principle which had taught him to stand out by being unique rather than trying to imitate anyone’s skill.
He therefore insisted on sticking to R&B, and this paid-off as he soon became a household name in the Nigerian entertainment industry!
Banky's advice:

“You cannot say enough about the grace of God and I therefore do not want to claim any form of glory. Falling down is inevitable but getting back up is optional!
Frankly, you can’t appreciate sunshine if you’ve never been through a heavy rain. Yes, life is tough, but what do you do in those tough moments?
Do you learn the lesson, stand up again, consider yourself stronger and keep going? Or do you sit down and feel sorry for yourself?
The graveyard, they say, is the richest place in the world because therein lies so many who died with their dreams. So, my advice is, do not give up! If Banky can be where he is today, you can be where you want to be if you put to mind to it.”

Photo Proof: "Wizkid's Show In Abuja Was A Success"

Yesterday a picture went viral saying Wizkid’s show in Abuja was unsuccessful. There were pictures to explain it and even reasons for it being unsuccessful. Yankee Entertainment, the organizers of Wizkid Abuja Invasion Show has swiftly reacted to media reports.
Talking to Dailypost, Manager and CEO, Yankee Entertainment, Malam Kehinde Adegbite, said almost all the sections of the venue ICC were filled, and Wizkid was not in any way disappointed as reported.
Yankee vehemently asserted that the pictures used by some reporters in their stories were actually
 taken at the earliest part of the show when fans were just arriving, affirming that the report was sponsored by mischief makers, whose interest is to see him disappointing Abuja show lovers.

He said:

I’m sure those journalists did not even stay till the end of the show. The show was “very very” successful. I really don’t bother myself about what some people feel or want to say about my event, so long as our business continues to prosper and we keep smiling to the banks.
I want to tell you that Wizkid was happy with the turnout, the fans enjoyed the show, they had fun and have confessed to that. They are ever ready to have Wizkid in Abuja again.another photo after the cut.

 Those pictures were actually taken by some journalists who had access to the hall before the take-off of the show. I didn’t know they were out to blackmail us. I didn’t even know how they had access to the conference hall. But I’m not in any way bothered.”
He disclosed that over 27 tables were sold at the event, and that a table of 8 was given out between N300, 000 to N500, 000.
He listed heavy weights who were at the show to include -

·                     CEO, Kefiano Motors;
·                     Timi Frank, PA to Atiku Abubakar;
·                     MD, Exclusive Stores,
·                     MD, Sungold Estate;
·                     Jude Imagwe, SSA to Jonathan on Youths and Students Matters;
·                      Mr Jide Asuma, former Director of Silverbird Cinema;
Yankee said the list is endless, and that he cannot be deterred by those he termed as‘badbelle’.

I Would Date Dammy Krane Over Iyanya, Wizkid or Davido - Chidinma

The pretty songstress Chidinma Kedike in a recent interview with Hip Hop world was asked to pick among Wizkid, Davido, Dammy Krane and Iyanya, she surprised us by choosing Dammy Krane over the other three artistes.
"Iyanya has the body, Davido has the money, Wizkid is the starboy but Dammy Krane is a sweet cute guy. I'll probably go for Dammy Krane" she said
… Lovely… They would make a very cute couple too.
And abut her relationship with Phyno, she says he has been Friend Zoned!!

Excerpts Below:
Relationships?
I’m not in one; I’m not interested in getting into one.
You are averse to relationships?
No. I have heard a lot. People won’t stop assuming or drawing conclusions.
They assume because you haven’t made it official.
There’s nothing to be made official because nothing is happening.
Your Lovey-dovey Picture with Phyno went viral…
It did! Less than 20 minutes after we put up the picture on Instagram, it just went crazy and we were not even in Lagos; we were in Abuja. We went for the Hennessy Artistry and we were at the airport before we went to the hotel, so we were just taking pictures then before we knew it, it was everywhere. It was kind of funny because we were just two people sitting somewhere and
making the industry talk.
You are saying your relationship with Phyno is Platonic?
Phyno is my guy!
Your Guy?
*Laughs*
Wait, you’re Friend-zoning Phyno?
Yes… Definitely!
What’s up with you and DammyKrane.
DammyKrane is my friend, he is everybody’s friend, and he’s funny and crazy. Before I shot the Video, I had a lot of options to play my love interest in the Video but I didn’t like any. Then someone said there was this new guy and then they played his song and I liked it. Sometime later, we were at Cool FM and I spotted him jumping about and being very playful. He was so energetic; I liked him instantly and wanted him as my love interest in the video. So my manager called him up, he was so nice, he came over, we talked and he told me the day we were going to shoot the Video was his birthday. Then I got scared that he might not make it. Unfortunately, on the day of the shoot, he got robbed that morning but he still made it to the shoot and then left after his part. We’ve been friends ever since.
If you must, who would you date amongst Iyanya, Wizkid, Dammykrane and Davido.
Iyanya has the body. Davido has the money, Wizkid is the Starboy, DammyKrane is a sweet, cute guy. I’ll probably go with DammyKrane.

OPEN LETTER TO WIZKID {MUST READ}

Dear Wizkid,
I’m one of your biggest fans. Right from “Holla at your boy” era till date. Well Wizkid, I’m Writing to both congratulate and criticise you. (Please don’t call me poor.. Ma Binu)
First of all, congratulations on your Star Boy producer-filled records, it is a huge step to take but it still baffles me why you left your guy Banky W and EME well I don’t wanna go into that. You are no doubt a very talented musician with a very nice voice that drives the ladies gaga and some dudes too. You’ve really improved, your voice is now very mature and you are now doing collabos with legends like Femi Kuti (Jaiye Jaiye). That song is always on repeat on my playlist, cool song, and nice beat, guess it was Legendary on the beat, and then you did a freestyle, Juru, that song dey scatter head, the beat is mesmerising.
Then lets come to your international Collabo you did with Nigerian US based Rapper Wale AKA MR Folarin.
The song was cool tho but the beat wasn’t right, sorry, I mean the producer wasn’t right. Legendary beat shouldn’t have produced that song; he made you sound bad man, making your normal empty lyrics very obvious. According to my friend JV “Don Jazzy would have been a better producer or even best, a foreign producer”. Anyways, Kudos to Mr Folarin he totally killed the verses….“Show me your Kokose”
That is a classic tune, the feature on Sound Sultan latest “Kokose”. You def killed the Chorus, Legendary beat was on point, then Sound Sultan na boss before na. He totally killed it in a unique way.
There is no doubt that you are the King of Hook in Nigeria.

Keep up the good work, though  i think you should review that your name; you no longer a kid (Just Saying)

*Runs away…..

From Your Biggest Fan….
